How do we catch it?

People who are passionate about fishing have an idea of what trolling, surfcasting, and jigging are. It is no coincidence that these types of fishing are on the same page when it comes to fishing in Cape Verde.

Trolling

The most common type of fishing for ocean monsters: marlin, sailfish, tuna, etc. It is also one of the most “technically” complex. You need a boat, reliable gear and a crew. All this is pleasantly expensive and not available to everyone.
What you need for successful trolling:

Boat
Spinning rods from 3 to 6
Reels with line winding 500m
Line with a tensile test of 200-300 kg.
Lures for marlin or tuna.

Fishing time on a boat when trolling is 8-9 hours. As a rule, the journey to places of successful fishing in our area does not take more than half an hour.

Surfcasting, “fishing in the surf”

This is one of the types of fishing with bottom tackle, directly from the shore, and not from a boat or boat.
Special gear used:

Rods are used up to 5m long, since it is necessary to throw heavy baits of 80-200g at 50-100m from the shore.
Inertia-free reels or multipliers with a large line capacity of 200 – 300 m.
Sinkers come in completely different shapes, with all kinds of bottom hooks and anchors.

Beach, ocean, sunset/sunrise, romance. Labor, gear, fresh bait. Experience, knowledge of the place, skill in casting. At first glance, there are no difficulties or costs)), if you are already on the ocean.

Jigging

A very active type of fishing for almost any fish and other inhabitants of the ocean depths. Very lively and not very expensive in terms of equipment compared to trolling on a boat. You can fish from almost any vessel that can take you to the fishing spot and, of course, return you back, observing safety measures and the level of comfort that you deserve.
You need to be physically prepared to compensate with your “physics” for the lack of jigging technique at first. After a few hours, you will get the hang of it and, if the circumstances are favorable, you will get results that you will never forget.
Powerful short spinning rods and multiplier or spinning reels are used. Who likes which ones? We use spinners for jigging from 100 to 500g.
